Chief Val Demings Slams Rubio for Blocking Anti-Terrorist Legislation

ORLANDO — Today, after Marco Rubio failed to forcibly condemn the shooting of 10 in Buffalo, tweeting, “White supremacy is an evil and un-American lie,” Rubio blocked bipartisan legislation to support law enforcement officers and combat domestic terrorism. In response, former Orlando Chief of Police and candidate for U.S. Senate Congresswoman Val Demings released the following statement:

“It’s disturbing and disgraceful that in the wake of a domestic terrorist killing 10 in Buffalo, and a gunman murdering 19 children and two teachers in Uvalde, Marco Rubio would vote to block legislation that would help protect our communities and law enforcement officers from massacres. Marco Rubio’s gutless behavior demonstrates he would do anything to score cheap political points. Don’t just listen to what he says. Watch what he does. I’ll always put the safety of our families above politics in the U.S. Senate.”
