Demings Campaign Slams Rubio For Trying to Whitewash His Record on Infrastructure Funding He Opposed

ORLANDO — Today, former Orlando Police Chief Val Demings’ campaign for U.S. Senate blasted Senator Marco Rubio as he attempts to walk back his opposition to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

In August, Marco Rubio voted against the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which will make essential investments in Florida’s roads and bridges; expand high-speed internet; and help protect Floridians from extreme weather due to climate change.

But now, in a clear attempt to mask his obstructionist vote, Rubio is touting the investments that he opposed in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

“Chief Demings delivered common-sense bipartisan investments in our roads, bridges, ports, internet, and water infrastructure that will lower costs for Floridians and create tens of thousands of good jobs,” said Demings campaign manager Zack Carroll. “Marco Rubio opposed these overwhelmingly popular investments, so it’s no wonder he’s trying to backtrack his opposition to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. But Senator Rubio’s record speaks for itself: he didn’t have the courage to buck the most extreme members of his party and support the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.”
